Thinking about purchasing a home and/or relocating and cannot decide on a neighborhood to begin your search? Various internet websites are available to assist you.
Start your property search with the website www.trulia.com. Once logged on the site, choose a neighborhood or zip code, like American University Park or Takoma Park Maryland. Just type in the neighborhood or zip code and the visitor is sent to the area. You can then choose a satellite view or street map. Trulia has a heat map that breaks down various neighborhoods in DC, MD and VA and shows how red (hot) or green (cold) a neighborhood is based on prices, sales or popularity of Trulia users. Visitors using the heat map can click on the map to see homes listed for sale. Visitors can also ask other users questions about the various neighborhoods.
If you would like to know the value of your house or learn how much a neighbor's house is worth, then go to www.zillow.com. Zillow will also estimate the value of every house on your street.
www.maps.live.com will give visitors a view of roofs, backyards, and sides of houses. www.maps.google.com will give the visitor a 360 degree street level view in some neighborhoods in DC, Maryland and VA.
To learn what shops, drugstores, restaurants, schools, etc are in a particular neighborhood like Shepherd Park or Tenleytown, go to www.walkscore.com. www.schoolmatters.com will give you basic information about public schools like test scores and demographics. www.greatschools.net has information about private schools as well as public schools.
