Resource Center: Tips for Your Washington DC Move

Moving to a new home is a significant task, but doesn't have to be a difficult one. There are lots of ways to make your move more simple and efficient:

  • Start packing early and give yourself plenty of time.
  • Have a garage sale to dispose of any unwanted items or donate unwanted clothing or goods to charitable organizations.
  • Keep a list of the contents in each box; number those boxes and keep a record going.
  • Collect plenty of boxes and moving supplies. If you buy your boxes from a moving company, you can often return unused boxes for a refund.
  • Place extra boxes aside for last-minute items on moving day.
  • If hiring a moving company, do your research, gather referrals, and hire a quality company.
  • Have food ready for moving day.
  • For more advice on your Washington DC move, contact Michelle Buckman. Representing W.C. & A.N. Miller and Christie's Great Estates properties in Chevy Chase, Northwest Washington DC, Capitol Hill, and the Trinidad neighborhood, Michelle works with a full range of clients, notably first-time homebuyers.
